About Albion, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated south of the center of Edwards County, Illinois, Albion is a small city with an estimated population of more than 2,000 residents. The county seat of its county, the city consists of one constituent neighborhood and was given the name ‘Albion’ after a poetic and ancient reference to Great Britain.

In 1818, Albion was laid out as a utopian community. It was named ‘Albion’, a literary name for England that was traditionally used in poetry or for solemn occasions. The county seat was moved to Albion from Palmyra in 1821, however, Mount Carmel’s residents felt their town deserved to be the county seat.

Consequently, four battalions of militia from Mount Carmel advanced towards Albion. The intention was to seize the county documents held in the courthouse. In 1824, the situation was finally resolved with the separation of Wabash County. Both Wabash and Edwards counties remain two of the smallest in the State of Illinois.

As of today, Albion is a relatively quiet town with easy access to everywhere. Majority of the population is working in blue-collar occupations. Overall, it’s a city of service providers, office and sales workers as well as manufacturing and production workers. One of the best things about living in Albion is the little traffic and this makes commuting to and from work less aggravating.

Albion offers a wide variety of affordable housing options, attracting people from different income groups. While a host of amenities are located close by, further amenities can be found in the nearby cities. There are also several local restaurants for residents to visit with many cuisines to exceed your expectations. As far as education goes, the city is served by the Edwards County Community Unit School District 1, which consists of three schools.

With the average high in the summer months around 88 degrees, it’s important to have a reliable air conditioning system in place to ensure you can deal with the summer heat.
