About Princeton, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

A city in Patoka Township, Princeton is situated in Gibson County, Indiana. With an estimated population of more than 8,700 residents, it’s a part of the greater Evansville metropolitan area and has many major roads that effectively connects every corner of the city with another.  Princeton is the largest city in Gibson County, and is its county seat.

Founded in 1814, Princeton was named after William Prince, an early county commissioner who later served in both the U.S. and Indiana Congress. He also served as a Captain during the battle of Tippecanoe.  The iconic symbol of the city is the Gibson County Courthouse, which is a Second Empire Style structure.

In 1816, a post office was established in Princeton. The city’s local newspaper was first published in 1846. With the Wabash and Erie Canal running through the nearby towns of Port Gibson and Francisco, it provided a means for goods produced in Princeton to reach distant markets.  In 1875, the Princeton Depot was constructed and the railroad proved a boon for the city’s industry.

Fast forward to today, Princeton is one of the best places to live in Indiana. Three highways pass through the city, making it accessible to all. The economy is growing at a steady pace with many major employers housed in the city, including Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana and Menards. Many restaurant and retail chains like Sears and Applebee’s have also opened locations in Princeton.

The city has three main parks, which is managed by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Lafayette is the largest and features a stage for public performances, a fishing pond, an open general-purpose recreation area, a playground and numerous shelter houses. There is also a swimming pool and playground for young children adjacent to the park.

East End Park and South Side Park are the other two parks of the city. As far as education is concerned, the city of Princeton is served by the North Gibson School Corporation, which encompasses three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Bethel Christian School and St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, on the other hand, are noteworthy private institutions.

The city receives 47 inches of rainfall and 11 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high in summers around 88 degrees, it’s important to have an air conditioning system to maintain comfortable temperatures in your home. Furthermore, as the mercury drops as low as 22 degrees in the winters, it’s highly recommended that you invest in a heat pump to maintain warmth during the winter season.
